Our dining recommendations
Need somewhere to eat out or get a great coffee. You are very much spoilt for choice when staying at 100 Hitchcock. I have included places the locals love…..
Beach House Barwon Heads was once the old Fire Station, and consistently provides great food, with the menu changing rather frequently. Beach House serves up a modern Australian cuisine for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Great range of local wine and craft beer.
If you love seafood, I highly recommend the Bouillabaisse – chilli & tomato broth packed with prawns, scallops, white fish, calamari & mussels. Yum!
5 minute walk – in the centre of town on Hitchcock street.
Just a block away from 100 Hitchcock is my favourite place to delight the senses- Starfish Bakery. Creativity and fresh produce is the key to their success as an institution in Barwon Heads. I highly recommend breakfast here, especially “green eggs and ham”.
Oh and their muffins are to die for. Remember to bring cash- no EFTPOS facilities, however bank just a few doors down.
You can’t miss this quaint corner shop by the bridge, with views across Barwon River, Cafe Maritana brings Mediterranean flair and flavour to Barwon Heads. Inspired by the Venetian tradition of ‘cicchetti’, all items on the menu are in entree size and made fresh to order using locally sourced produce. Share plates are regularly updated. My all-time favourite is the pan seared scallops with corn puree. 4 share plates easily fills two hungry tummies. Oh and they make great cocktails- packs a punch!
Located at the roundabout opposite the bridge.
Two Bridges Café
Mismatched ‘found’ decor, happy, lively and fun cafe, Two Bridges cafe takes first place spot for great coffee. Such friendly staff. I Love this spot, and highly recommend the crepes. Located at the roundabout opposite the bridge.
